I’m the fiction editor for After Happy Hour review, which I work on with my friends/chosen family/workshop group.

The workshop has been running strong for well over a decade. Although just about everyone in the group has been published in journals or lit mags, our particular brand of weird has garnered each of us quite a few incredibly kind and encouraging personal rejections, but not much else. “We enjoyed reading it,” they say, “but we don’t know how we’d market it.” This is perfectly reasonable, of course—publishers each have their own niche, and it’s often not in their best interest to stray too far outside the box that pays their bills.

But my friends write some truly awesome shit, dammit, just as good as (if not, in my humble opinion, better than) anything I’d find in Barnes & Noble.

So on a whim, I decided to start a press.

I like reading that weird shit that finds itself outside the margins, and I figured other people must, as well.

And now here we are, doing the damn thing.
